More about me

After graduating from Liverpool University in 1992 and I went into general dental practice after completing vocational training in Merseyside. After working as a general dentist for 18 months I started a 2 year postgraduate Masters degree in Periodontology at Liverpool University. This was completed in 1997 and I subsequently became a part time lecturer in the Periodontal Department. In 2000 after passing the Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) I was entered onto the General Dental Council’s specialist register in Periodontics. I have been accepting referrals from other dentists for advanced periodontal care and dental implantology since 1996. Since 1997 I have taught at both Liverpool University and Birmingham University Dental Schools. I have given lectures both nationally and internationally on periodontics and the surgical aspects implantology and bone/soft tissue augmentation. Between 2006 and 2010 I have run a 10 day dental implant training programme for other dentists at BPI dental . In addition, I am also a Simplant trainer and provide clinical coaching for different implant systems. Since 1995 I have placed over 2500 dental implants with a success rate of 98 % over these 15 years. I am also an active member of the British Society of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology and the Association of Dental Implantology.

  • Implant Retained Bridgwork

For many patients missing all their teeth can have a devastating impact on quality of life. For replacement of all teeth we have 2 main options: A removable prosthetic denture secured on two or more implants using mechanical anchors or a bar. A fixed prosthesis consists of a dental implant bridge supported by four or more implants.
  • Restoration of the failing dentition

This patient was referred for implant therapy as she has completely failed upper dentition. The implants were placed 15 years earlier but were affected by peri-implantitis. The full mouth clearance and implant removal was followed by block bone grafting in the upper incisor region prior to any implant therapy. After maturation of the graft 6 implants were placed and restored with 12 unit fixed screw retained bridgework
